Melvin E. “Whit “ Whitley, age 86, of Atlanta, GA passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 10th, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral home in Marietta, Ga. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 9th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Sara Whitley. He is survived by his son, Craig, Craig’s wife Helen, brothers Louie and Ronald, and several nieces and nephews. Melvin worked for the Atlanta Gas Light Company for forty-three years. He was a loving, thoughtful and generous man who “never met a stranger” and will be missed by family and friends alike.
Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory will be handling the arrangements.
